| How do we make sense of this? |

Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE and President Obama's "Jobs Czar" says the US is not exporting enough. Duh! Then we note that GE is exporting its US-based jobs. For one example, GE moved its medical x-ray business to China.
GE is frequently mentioned as a corporation that pays no taxes. Do the Chinese collect taxes from giant corporations that enjoy huge profits? One wonders.
Immelt consoles himself with a revelation that he shared on CBS News' 60 Minutes. His employees root for him and like him, he says. Maybe the 19,000 jobs cut by Immelt since 2009 make his employees fearful of looking less than supportive.
All the same, you have to admire the Jobs Czar's creativity-- and determination to look out for Number One. He is calling for a tax holiday for corporations. His own corporation, GE, paid no taxes in 2010. Maybe he wants a gift card from the IRS for doing the paper work .
